Case Study: Decoupling Industrial Laundry Wastewater at Fabriclean Hyderabad (30 KLD)

The Challenge of Industrial Laundry Effluent

Commercial laundry operations generate highly complex effluents loaded with synthetic dyes, surfactants, microfibers, high temperature spikes, and fluctuating alkaline pH. In Hyderabad, compliance limits set by the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) mandate strict thresholds for Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), and Total Suspended Solids (TSS).

Fabriclean Services Pvt Ltd (Hyderabad) commissioned Adachi Svipegreen Pvt Ltd (Tigreen) to supply and install a compact, 30 KLD package Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) to achieve safe discharge and local water circularity.

Project Specifications & Treatment Flow

The installed Tigreen ETP treats up to 30 KLD (rated at 1.5 KL/hour maximum flow). It follows a multi-stage physical-chemical treatment route:

  1. Preliminary Treatment: Screening and lint filtration removes coarse garment threads and heavy lint solids.
  2. Tigreen DAF Flotation: Employs a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) unit with automated dosing of Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) for coagulation, anionic Polyelectrolyte for flocculation, and automatic pH adjustments using Caustic and HCl.
  3. Secondary & Tertiary Polishers: Post-DAF water undergoes chlorine disinfection, then flows through a Pressure Sand Filter (PSF), Activated Carbon Filter (ACF), and a Resin Softener to mitigate hardness.
  4. Sludge Dewatering: Froth-skimmed sludge is accumulated in a sludge holding tank and compressed using a dewatering skid.

Commissioning Jar Test & Trial Observations

During the commissioning trials conducted on 20–21 April 2026, process engineers established optimal parameters:

  • Optimal PAC Dosage: 0.4 ml per 200 ml effluent = 1 L/KL.
  • Optimal Polyelectrolyte Dosage: 0.3 ml per 200 ml effluent = 1.5 L/KL.
  • Target Operating pH: Automated correction to 7.5 – 8.5.
  • HP pump discharge pressure: Operating at 7.8 bar (specification: 7.5 – 8.0 bar).
  • Bubble injection point pressure: 3.2 bar (specification: 3.0 – 3.5 bar).
  • Stabilization Speed: Sludge rose completely in 25 minutes, yielding clear, colourless water.

Water Quality Results (Pre vs Post Treatment)

Direct on-site tests and subsequent laboratory analysis verified the high efficacy of Tigreen's microbubble flotation:

Parameter Raw Influent Treated Effluent TGPCB Compliance Status
pH 9.5 - 10.5 (Highly Alkaline) 7.5 - 8.1 (Neutralized) ✔ PASS
Hardness > 350 mg/L < 50 mg/L ✔ PASS
Total Suspended Solids (TSS) > 250 mg/L < 10 mg/L ✔ PASS
Colour & Turbidity Dark blue / high turbidity Clear / Colourless ✔ PASS

Conclusion & Industrial Takeaway

The Fabriclean installation proves that commercial laundries do not need massive, civil-intensive sedimentation lagoons. Tigreen's 30 KLD skid-mounted unit is completely pre-assembled, requires zero excavation, and recovers 85% of process water for washing cycles—greatly reducing freshwater tanker procurement bills.
